£21,000 - £24,500 pa

Fixed Term Contract for 24 months

This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity for an enthusiastic, highly self-motivated engineering graduate (or equivalent) to join WMG and Seat Design Company (SDC) Ltd to deliver a 24 month industrially-focused project.

You will develop, implement and embed the practices and processes required to establish design and simulation capabilities for alternative lightweight materials within SDC Ltd.

You will leverage the technical expertise within WMG, the simulation and knowledge management technology supply base and SDC Ltd to develop and formalise composites manufacturing and performance simulation knowledge within a CAE framework. You will develop specialist knowledge within this growing field of predictive design engineering for lightweight, alternative materials.

You will possess an honours degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (2:1 or above) and you will have some experience in the area of computer aided design and engineering (CAD/CAE).

You must demonstrate an understanding of the issues to be overcome when designing and manufacturing structural components using alternative materials such as composites. You will need to be a good, patient communicator with excellent interpersonal and analytical skills, with an ability to work at all levels with a flexible approach, as a key player within the technical team.
