The Royal Academy of Dance is a dynamic organisation dedicated to advancing standards of dance education and teaching, and to the promotion and development of dance worldwide. The Academy is an Initial Teacher Training Accredited Provider and, through its Faculty of Education, offers internationally recognised qualifications including university-validated degrees, RAD professional awards and a Continuing Professional Development Programme.

We wish to appoint a Programme Manager: Teacher Education for Professional Dancers. This exciting and new opportunity has overall responsibility for the management and leadership of all programmes designed specifically for professional dancers, including the Professional Dancers' Teaching Diploma (PDTD) and the Professional Dancers' Postgraduate Teaching Certificate (PDPTC), to be launched in January, 2013.

The role requires leadership of a team of academics to deliver the PDTD onsite in London and the PDPTC through distance learning and an intensive study period in Berlin Germany, as well as development of a suite of continuing professional development courses. In liaison with the Quality Assurance Manager, the Programme Manager will have responsibility for the professional and academic credibility and standards of the programmes.

You should be committed and enthusiastic with an excellent educational background including a postgraduate degree (or near completion of postgraduate degree) or equivalent. You will need comprehensive knowledge and experience of teaching and the ability to co-ordinate teaching and other related activities to meet deadlines and targets. Familiarity with blended and distance learning and teaching strategies and objectives and up to date knowledge and understanding of current educational issues relating to both theory and practice are also essential. Experience as a professional dancer and/or previous experience of leadership and management would also be benefici al.
