Duties and Responsibilities

UCL Advances was launched in August 2007 to enhance UCL's role as a hub of technical innovation benefitting its status as one of the top 10 universities in the world. UCL Advances, UCL's centre for entrepreneurship, exists to develop new links between UCL and businesses of all kinds, with a particular focus on entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized enterprises.  

Citrus Saturday is one of the activities within the Open Innovation project, part-funded by the Interreg 4b North West Europe programme. The programme takes entrepreneurship into secondary schools, offering a chance to learn the basis of how to run a business through setting up and running a lemonade stand with all the associated planning, monitoring and budgeting needed to reach an income target (see www.citrussaturday.org). The Open Innovation Project aims to create jobs and new businesses by stimulating the application of collaborative open innovation models to co-create and develop new products and services. To do this a partnership of local governments, universities, business support services, and other public bodies is delivering a diverse and dynamic programme of activities across the UK , France, Germany, Ireland and Belgium.

The main responsibilities of the Citrus Saturday Manager are to ensure the successful running of the Citrus Saturday project in Camden and across the Open Innovation project partnership;  to grow the Citrus Saturday brand and initiative, rolling it out to new towns and cities; to engage and recruit new partner schools and volunteers on to the programme; to develop relationships with partners and sponsors; and generally to ensure smooth running of the Citrus Saturday initiative throughout the year and in the run-up to the Citrus Saturday itself.

The post is initially funded for 18 months.

Key Requirements

Knowledge of monitoring and reporting on progress to a range of stakeholders including external funders and sponsors, working knowledge of Microsoft office, Project Management experience, excellent organisational skills, ability to successfully prioritise and manage a variety of tasks to deadline and to work calmly under pressure, a high level of accuracy and consistent attention to detail and ability to analyse and communicate complex information clearly.
