The Academic Registry and Council Secretariat has recently completed a restructure which supports the strategic priorities of Queen Mary, its professional services aims and management of risk through the provision of a dedicated, professional academic administration service. Changes include the enhancement of the service provision to students through the creation of a dedicated Student Enquiry Unit, creating an Examinations unit that provides a comprehensive service for all invigilated examinations, a clearer faculty-focus for schools and institutes in the principal areas of student record keeping and academic quality assurance, appropriate support for key compliance and reporting requirement and support for improved communications with staff and students.Â
Academic Secretariat seeks to recruit an Appeals, Complaints and Conduct Officer to manage student casework relating to complaints, appeals, academic misconduct and discipline ensuring Queen Mary's regulations are applied in a thorough and even fashion and meet the College's contractual and legal obligations. The post holder will be responsible for the dissemination and operation of the procedures for student appeals, student complaints, student conduct and disciplinary issues.
Skills and Experience:
- Experience of managing student cases in relation to appeals and conduct
- Experience of all aspects of committee servicing, including student appeal panels
- Developed understanding of the relevant regulations and national codes of practice and the implications of non-compliance
The position is a permanent post. Starting salary will be in the range £33,944 - £39,936 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
