The Geographical Association (GA) invites applications for the above post, whose key role is to lead this forward-thinking, innovative subject association for geography teachers into its next phase of development.  The GA has a strong international reputation as a source of ideas, resources and CPD that underpin effective teaching of geography.

You will report to the Governing Body, and, in partnership with them, be responsible for the strategic development of the GA. Your advocacy for the subject and geography community will take place in a national arena that includes government and external agencies. You will need to motivate and develop a team of permanent staff at the GA's headquarters in Sheffield, and the volunteers who constitute its committees, local branches, and groups.

You will bring leadership and experience from a range of education contexts, as well as proven management skill in at least some of the GA's key activities, such as CPD, publishing and websites. You will need to provide evidence of project leadership, excellent communication and entrepreneurial skills, and the ability to show initiative in leading and responding to changing circumstances.
