College Principal

Queensland College London (QCOL) is a growing educational provider of further and higher education offering high quality teaching and a stimulating learning environment in modern surroundings. QCOL aims to provide accessible education delivered by a team of dedicated professionals whose aim to ensure that all students are treated as individuals and provided with the essential ingredients to achieve their maximum potential in their chosen field of study.

We are currently looking to appoint a College leader who will be working closely with the Directors, supported by the Senior Management Team. The Principal will be pivotal in building a high performing team of lecturers, administrators, and a supportive learning environment for its staff students.

Salary: Initially c.£35,000 - £40,000 or pro rata

Specification of role:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the College
  • Ensure the College teaching programmes are effectively delivered
  • Take responsibility for student welfare and pastoral care
  • In conjunction with the College registrar ensure the college record keeping is effective and that records are complete and accurate
  • Arrange staff development and CPD programmes
  • Attend SMT meetings and other College board/committees as required
  • In conjunction with other members of staff prepare for College inspections, external verifier meetings and visits by external agencies
  • Undertake teaching on one or more College programmes
  • Promote the best interests and reputation of the College
  • Identify student placement opportunities, liaise with employers and monitor the standard of work-based learning.
  • Identify and develop additional teaching programmes
  • Undertake such additional duties as may be reasonably requested

Person specification

Essential:

  • Experience of the UK HE/FE system
  • Understanding of the learning and support needs of international and home students
  • Degree level education and relevant post graduate qualification
  • Excellent communication and management skills
  • Ability to work as a team member and on individual initiative
  • Enthusiasm and commitment
  • Ability to identify opportunities for development/enhancement of the College's academic portfolio.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the UK HE/FE  regulatory framework and the QAA Academic Infrastructure/Quality Code
  • Demonstrable research interest and publication record
  • Experience of writing academic programmes
  • A teaching qualification

Location: Reading and Acton (West London)
