The Senior Systems Accounting Officer is a fixed-term role within the Financial Reporting team of the Directorate of Finance which is required as a result of the imminent Oracle R12 upgrade project. The role will provide additional resource to support the Financial Controller in the area of systems accounting for the duration of the project. 

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Senior Systems Accounting Officer will be responsible for supporting the financial systems in operation at the University of Manchester, including Oracle Financials. Responsibilities of the role will include ensuring that all systems control processes are correctly followed and housekeeping tasks are completed as required, all systems environments are kept in alignment and interface reconciliations are performed and discrepancies investigated and cleared.

The successful candidate will be working towards the final stages of a CCAB qualification or equivalent. An excellent communicator, the role requires an ability to grasp a variety of different concepts quickly and to deal with colleagues at all levels within the organisation. The successful candidate will be an outstanding expert user of accounting systems including Oracle and possess advanced Excel skills. The ability to map processes will used to support identifying and implementing systems improvements in response to business needs. Motivation to work as part of a team as well as under their own initiative is essential. Strong analytical skills will combine with the ability to manage and prioritise different and sometimes conflicting workloads and meet deadlines.
