Procurement Manager

Full Time : The appointment will be on UCL Grade 8. The salary range will be £39,818 - £46,972 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

Working to the Head of Procurement you will be expected to negotiate best value purchasing contracts, using the appropriate tendering procedures and complying with best purchasing practice. You will be the specialist in certain ranges of products and services, ensuring regular contact with key suppliers in order to maintain market awareness. Additionally, to be a source of knowledge on best procurement methodology, on e-commerce options and on purchasing terms of business. You will additionally represent the section, division, and UCL at meetings, presentations and exhibitions, locally or nationally, as required, and to work with the Southern University Purchasing Consortium and other consortia as necessary.

You will assist departments with their procurement requirements, and promote, in partnership with key suppliers, the advantages of contracts and services available from Procurement Services. You will be expected to promote and facilitate the co-ordination of purchasing activities across UCL, working towards the standardisation of procedures and, where appropriate, product ranges and specifications, and to d evelop and maintain systems and procedures which will provide useful and relevant market knowledge, and a means of objective performance measurement and benchmarking.

Holding membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply or other appropriate professional body, (or actively working towards), and demonstrating a track record of procurement of a wide range of goods and services in a large and diverse organisation. Experience in the development and implementation of strategic sourcing and procurement of Information Technology supplies together with knowledge of the IT purchasing landscape would be an advantage.
