Salary from £37,012 to £49,689 a year (pro-rata)

Maternity cover - 50% (Fixed term for 12 months)

The CRUK Centre at Birmingham is administered through the School of Cancer Sciences.  The Centre Manager is responsible for all the administration of the Centre's activities.

CRUK currently provide a total of approximately £9 million per year of research funding to the University of Birmingham.  The Centre itself benefits from approx £1.5 million of annual funding which is awarded to support infrastructure, strategic appointments and to provide clinical and non-clinical PhD training studentships.  Provision of Centre funding is subject to annual review and the Centre's success will be formally measured as part of its First Term review in 2013.

The post-holder will work closely with the Director of the Birmingham CRUK Centre (Prof Paul Moss, Head of School Cancer Sciences) and will be responsible for the administrative functions of the Birmingham CRUK Centre and for developing, implementing and managing operations across the Centre partners.  The post-holder will effectively act as deputy for the Director in all matters of administration and operations management, understanding the financial and strategic issues involved in delivery of the Centre's aims and objectives. 

The Centre Manager will be part of the College's Research and Knowledge Transfer (RKT) Office, reporting to the Head of RKT.

This position provides an ideal opportunity to work within a demanding, multidisciplinary clinical and scientific research environment, and will involve interactions with a wide range of organisations and individuals.

The post would suit an experienced administrator and a background in Higher Education or Health Service administration would be an advantage.
