The Role
We are seeking to appoint a Distance Learning Technologist to play a vital role in the provision of e-learning (electronic learning) support within the new Centre for Child Protection and will liaise with colleagues in the Unit for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching (UELT) and Information Services. The successful candidate will have a high standard of operational expertise in all aspects of Moodle. The post holder will be responsible for the organisation, updating and maintenance of materials for the programme. The content will also include weekly online activities, quizzes, forums, access to the virtual learning platform, films, documentaries, audio and other related academic materials. The post holder will work with staff and students to ensure that materials are in a suitable format and provide support and maintenance for the smooth delivery of the programme. The new MA will involve the innovative delivery of materials such as the de velopment of serious games, so a knowledge of gaming would be an advantage.

They will also develop and maintain a reasonable standard of operational expertise in other standard software used in all areas of SSPSSR.

The Person
You will have a first degree or equivalent along with a learning technology related postgraduate qualification or experience at an equivalent professional level.

Proven experience supporting the use of learning technologies with experience of supporting academics and students in an HE environment is essential. You will also have experience of designing and delivering distance and blended learning, as well as knowledge of Moodle or other VLE's and experience of creating online learning materials with Digital Media (e.g. Adobe e-learning Suite, Camtasia, Photoshop, Final Cut Pro).

The Centre for Child Protection is a new initiative within SSPSSR, providing an innovative, inter-disciplinary approach to post-qualification child protection education and training. One of the key elements provided by the Centre is the distance learning Masters course in child protection, which will provide an online provision for students to undertake as a course for study over two or more years. The Masters course will combine the use of more traditional academic materials with immersive and interactive virtual reality scenarios.
