The Strategic Development Unit is seeking an individual to assist with preparations for the next Research Excellence Framework (REF) exercise. The Support Officer will work closely with the Planning Officer (Academic Planning and Research Policy) and staff in academic departments.
You will play a major role in supporting academic staff to produce research impact case studies and templates involving the gathering of evidence. You will also be required to assist with data collection for other elements of the REF using the University's new Research Information System.
You will be a graduate, or equivalent, highly motivated and commanding confidence amongst the academic community. You must have excellent IT skills, supported by evidence of gathering and analysing information. Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written, and an organized, methodical and proactive approach to your work are essential for this role.
Specific knowledge of the REF is not essential as training can be given but experience within a higher education research environment would be an advantage.
This post is fixed-term until 31 December 2013.

Salary range £25,251 - £30,122 pa
